Holding a PhD in Regional Geographic Analysis (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, 1993), he has been Associate Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid since 1998. His lines of research have focused on the history and the geography of Spanish forests and on landscape analysis. During the past twelve years, he has centered his research activity on the relationships between Geography and Cinema. He is author and coauthor of more than 40 publications, including several books. He has been Secretary of the Spanish Geographical Association (2007-2011), UC3M Vice Dean of the School of Humanities (2010-2018) and has been UC3M Vice Dean of Equality, Cultural Activities and Project Coordination since 2018. Currently he is President of the Spanish Professional Geographers Association.

Agustín Gámir Orueta

He holds a PhD in Human Geography from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). He has been a professor at UCM (1988-1992), the Universidad de Salamanca (1992-2001), and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2001 to the present). While his initial investigations were within the framework of the services and transport sector in Spain, he has been focusing his research work on the relationship between Geography and Cinema for over a decade. He has coordinated and participated in four research projects on Cinema and Geography. He is author and coauthor of nearly 50 articles, of which 25 correspond to publications in scientific journals, including the monographic volume: Geografía y cine: la representación del espacio geográfico en las producciones occidentales.

Víctor Aertsen

He holds a PhD in Media Research from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication (UC3M) and in Humanities (UC3M), and is a technical engineer in IT Systems (Universidad de Granada). His research has focused on audiovisual esthetics, narratives and geopolitics. He has formed part of the GeoCine research group since 2009, participating as a researcher and digital developer in diverse projects focused on the relationship between Geography and Cinema. Currently he is Assistant Professor at UC3M and technology specialist in the City of Madrid Film Office.

Inés Aquilué Junyent

She is an architect who holds a PhD in Urbanism from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). In 2011, she obtained a La Caixa grant to carry out a Master’s degree in Urban Studies at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and in 2013 was awarded a Ministry of Education Faculty Training grant. At the UPC, she teaches various courses in urbanism and design. She has undertaken research stays at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and at Newcastle University. She has also taken part in more than 20 international congresses, round table discussions and presentations, and has published and edited numerous articles, book chapters and books.

She holds a PhD in Tourism Management and Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. Since 2007, she has collaborated in coordinator duties in the University Master’s program in Tourism Management and Planning in Ourense, and she has taught classes as an interim professor in the Financial Economics and Accounting and Business Organization and Marketing departments (University of Vigo). She participates in diverse research projects related to the tourism and business sector. She is a member of the Universidad de Vigo Emitur (Marketing and Tourism) research group. She also holds a MBA in SMEs, winning an award for best business project.

She is a doctoral student in Media Research, holding a University Master’s in Media, and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Audiovisual Communication (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid) as well as an undergraduate degree in Photography from EFTI (Center for Photography and Cinema). She has worked as a film critic in different specialized journals and as cultural manager at the Filmoteca Española. She has been a member of the Geocine research group since 2017. At present, she is working on her doctoral thesis, Habitar la ciudad en el cine español filmado en Madrid (2000-2019) (Inhabiting the city in Spanish movies shot in Madrid 2000-2019).

She is Associate Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where she is a member of the TECMERIN research group and director of the Master’s Program in Film and TV Scripting. She has written or edited nine books, along with over 70 articles and book chapters on television fiction and the history of the media, including articles in reviews such as Hispanic Cinemas, Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies, Catalan Journal of Communication and Cultural Studies, Television and New Media, Hispanic Research Journal and Feminist Media Studies. Her current line of research is the transformation of the TV industry in Spain in the wake of video-on- demand services.

She is a lecturer in the Department of Media and Communication (Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and a researcher at ITI-LARSyS (Portugal). She obtained her PhD in Communication Studies from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (cum laude, 2015), sponsored by the Spanish government. In 2016, she moved to Portugal for her work at the Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute as a post-doctoral researcher. In 2017-2018, she was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Universidade da Madeira. Her main research interests lie in the fields of audience and television studies. In May 2020, she began a new project on media tourism in Spain. The research is funded by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions – Individual Fellowship program.

Currently she is a Visiting Scholar at the Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities (VeDPH, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia). Associate Professor in Human Geography at the Universidad de Alicante (UA), he is academic co-director of the Official Master’s Degree in Local Development and Territorial (DELEITE-UA). He heads the AVANT Interuniversity Chair (Rural development and Depopulation) of the Community of Valencia Regional Government at the UA and is a researcher at the International Institute for Social Studies on Latin America (IUESAL). He has been Vice Dean of Students, Tourism and Geography at the UA School of Philosophy and Letters (2006-2011).
