Map viewer: Madrid in non-Spanish speaking international films

This shows locations corresponding to 40 non-Spanish speaking movies used as a basis to study the image they present of Madrid. Its objective is to analyze their treatment of locations(frequency, distribution, morphological areas in the shoots, fidelity to the real urban framework), as well as the degree of prominence reserved for Madrid in the narrative plots, along with sociocultural concepts associated with the city’s image. Each one of these 606 geo-referenced clips have been assigned a set of metadata for obtaining results. The viewer brings to light the fact that the Madrid’s central core and historic districts are those mostly commonly depicted in these productions, with scant attention paid to areas developed after the end of the 19th century, such as the city’s expansion district, and with Madrid’s outer belt having a very limited presence.
